David vs Goliath in the Urban Death Maze… Now, where’s my sling?! (@urbandeathmaze)

August 4th, 2010

So after being bought in Nov of ‘09, David Koepp’s Big Budget ‘Action’ Flick ‘Premium Rush’ (with a bicycle messenger as central character) was green lit and is already in production, it looks like we have a ‘David vs Goliath’ type situation, one of the highest paid screenwriters in the world, versus US!

I believe that URBAN DEATH MAZE is unique in that it goes ‘inside’ the world of bicycle messengers rather than using one merely as a vessel…. The fact that this blockbuster has gone into production has steeled me to to finish my present draft and produce/direct, the definitive youth culture film of the decade… now where’s my sling!

Hammer Horror Ride #cyclist

July 31st, 2010
Out into the ‘European Grey’ morning, mist hanging around like a poorly developed characters in a ‘Hammer’ Horror film… added a little ‘plot twist’ to my ride, one that… just like in the movies ended up kicking the bad guys arse… namely me!

LA River/ Griffith Park/ Barham/ Nichols Cyn/ Mulholland/ Lake Hollywood Loop Dist: 32.25miles Time: 2h01mins Speed: av15.9mph Climbing: 2166ft Cadence: av74rpm Heart Rate: av141bpm

(LA River — at speed / Mulholland Drive — overlooking the Hollywood Bowl)

Eagle Rocks? #cyclist

July 30th, 2010
An unfocused ride today, much on my mind (mostly my rewrite deadline), plus I think my ‘Thunder Thighs’ are a little tired of dragging my ‘Crunk Shelf’ up these hills… although I did take a whole minute out of the initial eight mile climb of this ride…

Foothill/ Chevey Chase/ Linda Vista/ Rosebowl/ Glen Oaks/ Eagle Rock Loop Dist: 25.91miles Time: 1h45mins Speed: av14.9mph Climbing: 2549ft Cadence: av73rpm Heart Rate: av141bpm

Nichols Canyon kicked my arse… #cycling

July 27th, 2010
Nichols Canyon kicked my arse… but with my rapidly diminishing ‘lil’Buddha belly’, I can now get into much more aerodynamic positions on the descents…

LA River/ Griffith Park/ Barham/ Nichols Cyn Loop Dist: 32.25miles Time: 1h59mins Speed: av16.1mph Climbing: 2140ft Cadence: av77rpm Heart Rate: av147bpm

Now back to rewrites.
